FIP and IFPMA Fight Counterfeit Medicines
FIP and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA) are pleased to announce the release of a new publication entitled The Threat of False Friends. This publication's purpose is to raise awareness of the dangers of counterfeit, or falsified, medicines, especially those medicines purchased, sold and acquired via Internet sales.
Pharmabridge sometimes receives requests from developing countries towards strengthening their pharmacy schools. For example this is the case in Namibia where the Pharmacy Department that accepted the first batch of BPharm students in 2011, is soon to become a fully fledged School of Pharmacy. However, they need to strengthen their academic teaching and technical staff in the following areas: Aseptic and sterile production, Medicines Information, Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, General Chemistry, and also Complementary/alternative medicine, Pharmacy management, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics and Toxicology.
The request would be for volunteers who have academic/teaching experience who could provide their time and teaching skills. They would also potentially accept input from young academics with some teaching experience. Depending on qualifications and length of stay, they might be able to offer accommodation but otherwise all costs would rest with the volunteers (travel, subsistence etc). If you are interested in devoting some time to support the new School of Pharmacy in Namibia, please contact Dr. Timothy Rennie, Head of Department, Department of Pharmacy (School of Medicine, University of Namibia) Tel: +264 (0) 61 206 5003 – E-mail:firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Agathe Wehrli the Pharmabridge Coordinator as there are often similar needs in other countries email@example.com.
